Published at 27. 12. 2008 in category Main

The object of the roulette is to guess on which number the ball is going to land. Each player is allowed to bet on:
-    a single number;
-    combination of numbers;
-    red or black colour; odd or even number.

The table layout has short lines of three numbers called rows and long lines of 12 numbers called columns. There are two types of bets – inside and outside bets. The bets made on the numbered space and the lines between them are called inside bets. The bets made on the boxes below and the centre of the board are called outside bets. The inside bets are as follows:
-    straight up bet – the chip is placed directly on a single number;
-    split bet – the chip is placed on the line between two numbers. If the ball lands on any of them, you win;
-    street bet – the chip is placed on the line separating the inside and outside betting area at the end of a row. This bet covers an entire row. If the ball lands on any of these three numbers, you win;
-    corner bet – the chip  is placed at the intersection of the lines between four numbers. If the ball lands on any of these four numbers, you win;
-    five number bet -  this bet can include only numbers zero, double zero, one. Two and three;
-    line bet – the chip  is placed at the end of the line between two rows and covers six numbers. If the ball lands on any of these six numbers, you win.

The American roulette wheel

Published at 13. 11. 2008 in category Main

The American roulette wheel is divided into 38 equal slots, 0, 00 and the numbers from 1 to 36 including 1 and 36. The sequence of the numbers is not random. The number are put this way in order to achieve some balance between high (18-36) and low (1-18), black and red, odd and even numbers:
-    the red and black numbers alternate;
-    usually two odd numbers are followed by two even numbers;
-    all red numbers are opposite the black ones. For example, 25 is red, 26 is black;
-    each odd number is placed opposite its subsequent number. For example, 25 is opposite 26;
-    most of the numbers are part of a pair with one number between them. The sum of a pair is either 37 or 39.

Zero and double zero are green and are placed opposite each other. The rest of the numbers are either red or black.

Roulette is the most recognized casino symbol. It is considered that the Roulette was first played in France and later it crossed the ocean. In America, the casino owners add another number – double zero which substantially reduced the chances of winning. There are three types of roulette today: American roulette (Double zero roulette), European roulette (Single zero roulette) and French roulette (Single zero roulette). Since the French roulette is almost like the European, we are going to introduce you the American and the European roulettes. But first, let’s describe the game. At the end of the table there is a dealer, also called croupier, who sells chips to players, spins the roulette wheel, throws the ball spinning in the opposite direction, announces winning numbers, collects losing bets and pays the winners i.e. organizes the game from the beginning to the end. What a man! He does everything. After buying the chips, all players place their bets. They have to predict where exactly is the ball going to land. They can bet on single number, combination of numbers as well as on red/black, odd/even, high/low numbers. Numbers from 18 to 36 are the high numbers. The low numbers are from 1 to 18. Then the dealer spins the wheel and throws the ball. Players are allowed to place bets until the dealer announces: “Rien ne va plus”, meaning “No more bets”. When the wheel stops, the ball lands in one of the pockets (also known as slots). The dealer announces the winning number and places a marker there. After that he collects the losing bets and pays the winners.
